Jerry at the Eel was so much fun! Nothing better than listening to live Jerry while bathing in the river!

agreed! Jerry at the Eel was certainly the most scenic place I ever saw a show!

Spac was great for outdoors as well as the Greek certainly.

Indoors I always loved the setup of the Providence Civic Center - great sound system throughout the hallways! (although outside there was always a bummer)

Oakland was pretty good too for indoor shows - granted I only saw new year's runs, so that may have had something to do with it.

Yes, The wristband thing was very cool, if only all shows could have been at a campground by a river in the redwood forest the Dead scene would have survived.

Yea, because deadheads are so good at picking up after themselves and leaving nothing but footprints.....

Hey, don't get me wrong, I loved shows at Eel River as well as up top at Squaw. In fact, my favorite place these days for shows is the Henry Miller library down in Big Sur - check out the locale (and notice Lou Reed sitting at a table untroubled - for the Laurie Anderson show). It's remove from the big cities keeps it pretty special:

To bring back on topic, my favorite indoor spots were the Fox in Atlanta, Warfield, Jerry at the Stone, and I never had a bad time at the Kaiser. S.F. (now Bill Graham) Civic was also a good spot for New Years.
For outdoors, the above mentioned and the usual suspects of the Greek, Frost, and Red Rocks.

Yea that Squaw show is amazing. I lived in Alpine, the next valley over from Squaw until Fall of 90 so knew the area well.
Big Sur was also one of my favorite places but didn't get to explore it too much except for a long camping trip up in the mountains east of there.
Henry Millers looks like a very nice place indeed. Great Pics, my kind of venue.

Yea, I spent a season at Squaw as the "senior dorm parent" at Squaw Valley Academy; I had a bunch of deadhead friends I met on tour back east in early 80s that grew up at Donner Lake and Tahoe City and went to school in Truckee. They got me to come out for a New Years' run at the SF Civic and that was kind of all she wrote as far as not being able to stay away from this area. We even had a blast at the Boreal Ridge show - not captured on the board of that show.

Pretty much my story too except a bit later. Worked at Homewood Ski area for the 89-90 season and stayed through the summer and next fall. Short stay but one of the best times ever. Still got some good friends who live there now. One of the few places in the U.S. I really miss.
